The Argyll Hotel is an owner operated business which prides itself on great friendly service. Celebrating our 170th year as a small Hebridean hotel we offer a warm & comfortable welcome to everyone. We are situated within 50m of the sea and only 5 minutes from the ferry pier on the historic Isle of Iona. We have been awarded a Green Tourism Gold standard award for our commitment to sustainable operation and are constantly seeking to reduce our impact on this pristine environment that we would like to help preserve for generations to come. We welcome families and well behaved dogs to stay but booking ahead is essential as the Island gets full very early in the season.
We have 17 rooms, including 6 single, 3 twin/family rooms and a selection of doubles with ensuite facilities. Our rooms are cosy and comfortable and our only TV is situated in the West Lounge. Wifi is available in the dining room but we are still awaiting better signal to be able to offer it more widely in the hotel. This is a place of peace and quiet contemplation away from the buzz of the media, allowing time to relax & unwind by walking, reading and generally just getting away from it all!
Whether you are staying with us or just over visiting for the day we can offer quick cup of something with homemaking from 10am, tasty fresh lunches which include vegetable packed soups & sandwiches, seafood or salad to fuel up for a hike, afternoon teas with the famous Argyll Hotel Scone or a scrumptious dinner from our a la carte menu in the evening. The views from the lounges are un paralleled across the Sound of Iona looking towards Mull & Ben and sipping your favourite tipple on the lawn in front of the hotel to watch the granite turn pink at sundown is also a highlight!
Our restaurant serves handcrafted meals created from scratch by our Head Chef Richard using only the best local and season products. We are blessed to be surrounded by amazing producers of beef, lamb and Hogget, a local fisherman for shellfish and our own organic garden which supplies much of our greens, salads, flowers and herbs. This enables us to deliver great tasting food, to be able to support the local economy and reduce those food miles. As part of the Mull & Iona food trail we aim to use as many Island based suppliers as possible including Isle of Mull Cheeses, Tobermory Smokehouse and Tobermory Icecream. Pick up a map and come on down!
We look forward to welcoming you in the future!
