The Signal Box is a quirky holiday cottage in the Cairngorms National Park. This detached wooden building was built in 2004 next to the train station in the Badenoch & Strathspey village of Newtonmore. In 2013 it was selected to appear in The Times’ list of ’50 best cottages, beach houses and rural retreats’.

Accommodation overview

This quirky holiday cottage is set over two floors with an upside down layout to make the most of the views.

On the ground floor is the double bedroom and a shower room with shower cubicle, basin, WC and a sauna. There is also a utility room.

Internal stairs lead from the ground floor to a spacious first floor open plan living area with kitchen, dining area and sitting area with a woodburner and a sofa bed. You can lose yourself in the views of the River Spey and Cairngorm Mountains from the large windows in the living area or enjoy a drink on the balcony on a sunny summer’s evening.
